Audio Processing and Transcription

Speaknosis uses a secure and privacy-preserving process to convert audio recordings into usable transcripts. Our system is designed to protect patient information at every step, ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Here's how it works:

  1. Secure Transfer: Encrypted audio chunks are securely transferred to our processing environment. This environment is isolated and protected by Google Cloud's robust security infrastructure.

  2. Language Detection: Our AI engine automatically detects the language spoken in the conversation to ensure accurate transcription.

  3. AI-Powered Transcription: The audio is transcribed using state-of-the-art Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology. This process converts the spoken words into written text.

  4. PII Removal: Crucially, before the transcript is generated, our system automatically removes all personally identifiable information (PII). This includes names, addresses, phone numbers, and any other information that could identify a patient. This step is essential for protecting patient privacy and ensuring HIPAA compliance. However, we retain essential clinical data necessary for accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment, such as age, sex, and relevant medical history, while ensuring this information is anonymized and not linked to any specific individual.

  5. Character Filtering: The transcript undergoes a filtering process to remove any extraneous characters or formatting inconsistencies, ensuring a clean and readable output.

  6. Transcript Generation and Delivery: The final, de-identified transcript is then generated and securely sotored in our databases.

  7. Quality Assurance and Integrity Checks: Throughout the entire process, Speaknosis implements rigorous quality assurance and integrity checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the transcripts. We also have mechanisms in place to automatically retry the process in case of any errors, ensuring reliability and minimizing data loss.

This process ensures that the generated transcripts are accurate, secure, and HIPAA-compliant, providing healthcare providers with valuable information while safeguarding patient privacy.
